Making decisions about what happens with our finances, assets, and healthcare can be difficult. Financial exploitation can be avoided by assigning a financial Power of Attorney (POA), which is an important part of any estate plan. A POA can coordinate financial transactions and provides a point person to help deal with finances. A large portion of phone and computer scams rely on the absence of this document. John Kern from the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service will lead this discussion on financial preparedness.
