Mary Pickersgill: Baltimore’s Seamstress

March 12, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

The star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave, O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave” wrote Francis Scott Key as he watched the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore’s harbor in 1814. Our flag, crafted by Mary Pickersgill, inspired thousands of watchers and defenders alike and thrust her into the regional spotlight. Mary is remembered as one of Baltimore’s most influential women of the early 19th century. You may choose to attend Live or Virtually.
